ABOUT ME

A Journey in Health and Wellness

My passion for health and fitness began with my qualification as a personal trainer and sports massage therapist in 1999. I honed my skills in various gyms, providing personalized gym programs and spinning classes to a diverse clientele. This experience paved the way for my transition into sports therapy, where I embarked on a rewarding journey in semi-professional football with Christchurch & Bashley FC.

Elevating Athletic Performance

My expertise extended to the professional realm when I joined AFC Bournemouth, working with the under-18 team. My primary responsibilities involved providing pitch-side medical support, rehabilitation programs, and pre-season fitness testing for players. I also played a crucial role in designing and implementing strength training regimens to enhance the players’ overall performance.

Championing Workplace Wellness

After a decade of dedicated service at AFC Bournemouth, I sought new challenges. I ventured into the field of workplace wellbeing, introducing seated massage services to businesses in Bournemouth. This experience provided me with valuable insights into the connection between work environment, workload, autonomy, and overall employee wellbeing. To address these concerns, I collaborated with Dorset MIND to implement mental health awareness training for staff. I also developed a comprehensive wellbeing strategy that focused on promoting key areas of physical, mental, and financial wellness.

Throughout my career, I have consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to promoting health and wellness in various settings. My expertise and passion have positively impacted the lives of countless individuals, both on and off the field.

What is sports therapy?

Sports therapy is a holistic approach to healthcare that helps people of all ages and abilities to recover from injuries, improve their performance, and maintain their overall health and well-being. Sports therapists use a variety of techniques, including massage therapy, manual therapy, exercise therapy, and education, to help their clients achieve their goals.

What is the difference between sports massage and regular massage?

Sports massage is a type of massage therapy that is specifically designed to meet the needs of athletes and active people. Sports therapists use a variety of techniques to help their clients warm up before activity, recover from injuries, and improve their overall performance. Regular massage, on the other hand, is a more general type of massage that can be used to relax the body, reduce stress, and improve overall well-being.

How often should I see a sports therapist?

The frequency of your sports therapy sessions will also vary depending on your individual needs. However, most sports therapists recommend seeing them at least once a week for 3-4 weeks after an injury. After that, you may need to see them less often, or you may want to continue seeing them for maintenance treatments.

What should I do to prepare for my first sports therapy session?

There is not much that you need to do to prepare for your first sports therapy session. However, it is a good idea to arrive a few minutes early so that you can fill out any necessary paperwork. You may also want to write down any questions that you have for your therapist.
